REFLECTIONS;; an anthro sci-fi rpg
A few centuries ago, it was made apparent that we were not alone on the planet. In an attempt to find more space to build cities and homes for an overpopulating Earth, humans came across a city hidden in the wilderness. The technology used in its design was far more advanced than that which even the top scientific research of Earth had produced so far and it was little surprise to find that it was alien in origin – but it came as a shock, nonetheless, particularly when the inhabitants of the city greeted the humans. They introduced themselves as the anthropi, a race that was similar in appearance to the creatures of Earth, but given human-like qualities, such as the body shape and stance of a human, the ability to have fingers and opposable thumbs, possessing hair and wearing clothes. They were also unique in that they did not necessarily follow the colour and fur patterns of Earth creatures, or indeed the correct biological make-up – there were some anthropi that had wings when they should not have done, or others being a shade of bright, neon green when in fact they should have been a dull, grey colouring. Luckily for the humans, the anthropi were benevolent, treating the humans with respect whilst having their day-to-day squabbles and arguments amongst their own race, much like the humans did amongst themselves.
It is now 2342 and the Earth is overpopulated. Over the centuries, the anthropi and the humans became peaceful with one another and integrated themselves within one another’s society. The anthropi lent their skills in technology to those of the humans and they began to find a way to solve the overpopulation of the Earth. The result was a way of life amongst the stars – space stations built to contain artificial cities and grouped together to create ‘countries’, recreating the atmosphere in which we live and breathe, even allowing plants and trees to grow, adding sewage systems and perfectly clean water supplies, produced by mining and purifying ice crystals found on Mars. Even artificial weather was created, giving rain or sun and cycling the weather to match the seasons. Anything that was not available primarily was imported from other space stations, some specifically created for farmland rather than cities, and travelled between using spaceships.
The largest and first of these space stations is space station BW1692, known as Anima by its inhabitants, and is the home of humans, anthropi and their hybrid children alike. The city is renowned, not only for being the meeting place and occasional home of the Council of Twelve, ultimate deciders in this country in space, but for being a safe and prosperous place for both races. However, things are not, as they never are, all that they seem. Beneath the somewhat perfect appearance that the city gives off, there are enough shady characters operating in the shadows and alleyways, and members of gangs employed by rich and aristocratic figures that appear to be beneficial to the community under the light of day, to spoil such a perfect world. And to make matters worse, there are rumours of treachery amongst the Council of Twelve, along with rumours of underground scientific testing and mysterious disappearances of people on the streets…
