As a foal, Tarnie was always a sweet child. She would always help out with anything that the herd might need of her, and was attentive and enthusiastic about listening to the tales that the elders of the herd told. Her herd were proud of her, especially her mother; she had always been bursting with pride. Tarnie's father had left at her birth, so she never had a sire to look up to. It never really bothered her though, even though others did sympathize with her she felt no reason to be sad. She had never had a father to look up to, so the way she saw it, she didn't know what she was missing and therefore didn't miss it in the first place.
And Tarnie never did hear much about her father - her mother was always vague and distant when she posed the question. She simply muttered something about having 'other responsibilities', and 'not meaning to go that far'. As a filly, Tarnie didn't truly understand either of these explanations; her father was, and would always be, a mysterious figure of her past. And the sweet little filly that was Tarnara didn't really care.
But as she grew older, Tarnie started to change. She stopped being the sweet little filly that everyone had known her as - she changed. The way she saw it, she had always been too good, and now she was having the 'fun' she had missed. The truth was, Tarnie just wanted an adventure. She got thrills by seeing how petty actions and words from her own mouth could change people so much. It was just excitement to her - nothing more. Tarnie never really did grow out of her 'phase'. Sometimes, part of her is rebellious, always looking for an adventure and a way to disobey orders. After all, the way she sees it - rules are for breaking. The femme is of good heart, it's just sometimes the curiosity that rages inside her can often be more than she can resist. She is often seen out exploring, just for the sake of it. That rebellious streak never truly did leave Tarnie. Though sometimes she shows tantalizing glimpses of the sweet little foal that she used to be. Tarnie does enjoy helping others, and is very social. She seems to crave company, for reasons that probably have something to do with being alone so much. Though a few things have always been the same - Tarnie has always harbored a love of foals, whatever mood she's in. She will play with them for hours on end, and never tires of their boundless energy and questions. Tarnie has often wished for a foal of her own, but the right opportunity, and the right stallion have never arisen. Tarnie has put it on the list of things she wants to do with her life - have a family one day. Foals can be just more than she can resist.
Though this can completely depend on what mood Tarnie's in. Her mood can do alot to effect her personality; a scary amount infact. If she is in a good mood, she will seem carefree and easy with the world, and will be very good company. Though if her mood changes, which it often does - it's like a light has been turned out behind her eyes, and everything changes. She can become jealous and stubborn, worse if her mood decreases. It has worried equines in the past at how much her mood influences what she is like to be with, though Tarnie doesn't see any harm in what she is.

As stated before, Tarnie's life as a young foal was sweet and good, her herd spoiling her greatly because of her sweet nature and willingness to help out with anything that arose. It was when her personality started to change, that things started to get interesting for little Tarnie.
First, her herd started to reject her. Now she can look back and easilly say that it was all her fault - the elders stopped including her in the stories they told the little ones, she stopped being invited to the herd meets that nearly everyone attended, no one smiled at her if she was passed by. Tarnie hated this change, though she had too much pride to back out of what she was doing - to herself, as well as what she was doing to others. She wanted life to be back how it had been before, and yet she saw no way of getting it back without looking like she had given up. No, if there is one thing that Tarnie hates, it is loosing a battle.
It all came to a climax a few months later - Tarnie's taunts and mockings started to be returned, as she herd found that every one of them had had enough of her. Well, you can imagine this circle continuing with both Tarnie and the rest of her herd becoming increasingly more bitter and unwilling to give up. It was decided on one meet that Tarnie was to be cast out - but somehow she heard of this, despite being banished to the herd meets. Perhaps someone told her, perhaps she simply overheard, it is not known. But when she heard of it, she simply ran away. Tarnie didn't want to give the rest of them the satisfaction of sending her away. She wanted to make it look like she had won, and that she had run away of her own accord. Tarnie had too much pride, back in those days. She never did find out if the herd believed that she had simply ran away, or if they suspected that she heard something that night; but Tarnie likes to pretend that she doesn't care.
In the years between then and now, not much is known of young Tarnara. She went travelling, joined a few herds, made a few connections, and got a scar to show from them too. She doesn't often like to speak of what happened in these years - just that she was travelling. She spent alot of time alone back then. Tarnie makes it clear that she never wants to go through something like that again. She has been travelling for many years, and now it seems she has finally gotten bored with that way of life. For finally, Tarnie wants to join a herd. To settle down, to begin again, away from it all. She has grown tired from all these years with no place to call a home. And finally, that is changing.
Tarnie herself doesn't know if a life in a herd will work out again. She doesn't know if her conflicting personalities will stop her from ever truly settling down - but she does know that this time she wants to try.
So; her future awaits.
